Duration: 01:56Earth-Touch videos come in two formats: standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD). These terms refer to the resolution of the video. SD has a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. This works well online, on your iPod or on regular TV screens. HD has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The higher the resolution, the clearer the video and the crisper the detail. HD looks best on big plasma and LCD screens.
We also have two audio options: ambient and commentary. Ambient is the natural soundtrack provided by the animals and environment while filming. Commentary is a voice-over about the footage you are viewing.
Coatis snuffle about in the undergrowth, feeding on fallen fruit and titbits unearthed with their snouts.
Today we wanted to investigate and film a palm grove situated close to our camp in the Brazilian Pantanal. The composition of this grove was very different from the surrounding wetland plant life.
Soon after our arrival at the grove a group of about six coatis (Nasua nasua) put in an appearance.
We filmed an individual coati two days ago so we enjoyed the opportunity to film a whole family unit. These raccoon-like forest dwellers are diurnal – they spend most of the day foraging on the ground and sleep in the trees at night. They have long, flexible, upturned snouts and sharp claws for unearthing the fruits and invertebrates that make up their diet.
They tend not to be shy as they are at the top of their food chain.
