The clear waters unveil a variety of colourful fish swimming amongst the forests of coral that line the reef walls.
The water was clean this morning. The ‘G Spot’, a small coral reef off Ponta Mamoli in Mozambique named by some earlier reef explorer, is unusual because of its sponge and coral-covered walls. The reef surface is literally packed with growth.
Knowing that this reef is about 22m deep, you can see how clear the water is. The surface looks as if it’s just a few metres above you.
As we watched, clownfish swam by anemones growing in the dense colonies of hard and soft coral.
A bluebanded snapper swam above the coral, adding bursts of colour to the blue seascape. You'll also see a very striking emperor angelfish, with fine yellow and blue stripes, that we found feeding in a cave.
